Internet at home: the saga continues
Here is the promised update. If you don't know the beginning of this story, I strongly recommend reading it now.
Contrary - but not entirely unexpected - to RDS's promise to send the team (woudl be the third one) with the decoder on the day after the cabling was done, nobody showed up and nobody called. They called today.
Internet at home: connection established ... or not
This morning RDS called (Romanian provider for Internet access). In and of itself this is no special feat. In fact we had been waiting for this call for more than 3 (in words: three) months. Ever since we ordered internet access, which at that time was promised to take one month at most to get installed. I should have insisted on them specifying, which month they meant. Apparently they were thinking of February:
Road Quality in Romania
I don't know whether you read my short post about my first time driving on a Romanian highway. Some people did and one of them provided me the map below. Very useful, showing the quality of roads throughout Romania:
Where would we be without the Romanians? Continued.
Have to follow up on a previous post. Lau G commented on it and shared a YouTube link with even more information about what the world would look like without Romania. Check it out:
Local Entertainment
Not being a very large city, Brasov offers an amazing variety of entertainment facilities. Not only, but especially in the city center one can find a multitude of restaurants, bars, cafés and shops. A bit outside the center one can do all kinds of more or less physical activities. This is the announcement for several posts, describing some of my favorite locations. Of course you are more than welcome to post your comments and own preferred locations.
My First Time
Finally, last Thursday it happened. I had my first time. I had been waiting for it for years. What a night! But let me start at the beginning.
Ce sa facem?
Last Tuesday, during the ride from Brasov to Bucharest I had the opportunity to take a look at the Romanian country side. Not having to drive myself allowed me to take a conscious look at my surroundings. And what did I see?
Antique Brasov
Recently my parents visited Brasov and amongst other tourist stuff, we visited Bran Castle. There we got a lot of historical background - with all the Austrian relations - and apart from this I found a nice picture in the souvenir shop, showing the city of Brasov at the end of the 17th century. Very nice, as you can see below:
McLondon
I am currently in London. On my way to some dinner last evening, I passed by a McDonald's restaurant. No big deal. Except this one is different from the usual template based joints. You got to hand it to the English: they do things in their own style:
Where would we be without the Romanians?
A brief overview of Romanian achievements, you may not have been aware of. Quite amazing indeed:

Please wait...
